A Small Incident that Became Our Routine

It was just like any other day. Nothing special or planned! The day was going ‘ON’ at its average pace. However, suddenly, my husband offered to take us out on a long drive. My little angel and I readily agreed! It hardly took us 30 mins to get ready, and we were on wheels! The cold breeze and lovely gathering of clouds in the sky were complimenting us for the drive. We almost drove for 100 km with a single stopover for ice cream and coffee for ourselves. Just then, while sitting on the bench on the lakeside, watching the vast mountains, I saw my daughter innocently licking her ice cream. 

She was looking so adorable that I couldn’t take my eyes off her!

Realizing that getting busy with our daily chores, we often become ungrateful for forgetting that happiness lies in the small things in our day-to-day lives! How often do we take time out to be grateful and live just in the moment, appreciating all we have rather than complaining about all we want, desire or hunt for…?

Few moments of silence and not knowing what happened to me, I teased her and played around with her. I was cuddling her, making her laugh her heart out. She hugged me and started jumping out of excitement. The innocence in her smile crispiness in her voice made the day more beautiful. Making me feel blessed and grateful for all that I have in life.

As soon as she was done with her ice-cream, I took her to a nearby pleasantry shop and asked her to get something for her.

She started to pick up all sorts of colourful toys, filling them up in her little hands and tiny pockets! I couldn’t stop laughing. Just then, she found an ‘ELSA TUSUM DOLL’ and threw the rest of everything away! I took that doll in hand, made it a puppet and started teasing her, calling her name in a blabbering tune…. “We got one more pet name for her! Our secret.”  Our conservations started with that doll making her a puppet taking her to a fairyland that got converted into a story…

Not realizing that almost 20 mins had passed, we were busy playing like this. People have stopped and gathered around enjoying our ‘Doll Puppet Show’. Those were the most unforgettable minutes wherein we had forgotten everything else, especially me! I was just in that moment with her! I came back to the present with the sound of applause around me. Feeling embarrassed at the same time, glad, I got up, smiled at everyone, took her in my arms and went to the counter. Then, happily, purchased the ELSA DOLL and left.

It has been a couple of years now, my little angel from single digit has grown to double digit with her age, still our puppet shows in the morning and odd times in the day to play around with the tiny little doll is ‘ON’ making us both forget our actual AGE.
